It’s time to move on to less tech-y things and read some horror flash fiction about the elusive Death God. If you aren’t familiar with modern Japanese horror or fantasy stories, you might be taken aback at what exactly a Death God, or shinigami, is and what it does. According to Dictionary.Sensagent shinigami “死神, “death god” or “death spirit” is an entity in Japanese folklore that is responsible for seeing that a person dies at their appointed time and then guiding their spirit to be judged in the afterlife.”
As I translate the stories in this next book, I hope to get a clearer idea of what role Death Gods potentially play in the spectrum of human life and how they interact with other supernatural creatures.
